The Ambition team have got their 2026-27 offer off to a great start as they continue to support local people not currently in education, training, or work.

Funded by the Pathways to Work Trailblazer initiative, the programme takes a personalised approach to moving individuals towards sustainable employment by working with them to develop their confidence and skills and remove barriers.

The team has already worked with 160 new individuals just since April, supporting them with things like creating or updating their CV, preparing for job interviews, and accessing training and qualifications. Additional support includes access to healthcare, low level mental health support, and public transport access.

To date, 14 new people have been supported into work that matches their skills, interests, and personal circumstances, meaning the positive changes are more likely to be lasting and effective to households.

Participants have also been able to access local initiatives including discounted gym membership with BPL and support from Barnsley Council’s Employability Champions and Job Club to find suitable work opportunities.

Dave Fullen, Executive Director of Customer and Estate Services, said: “The Ambition team continues to deliver great outcomes for local people. We know getting back into work or starting something new can feel challenging, so the care and attention of the coaches is crucial. It’s wonderful to see people learning new skills, gaining qualifications, and finding jobs that make their lives better.”

Now is a great time to reach out to the team for support, as a range of new courses and qualifications will become available from September onwards. You’ll get a dedicated person who will work with you every step of the way, making sure you have the support you need to succeed.

If you, or someone you know could benefit from working with the Ambition team to improve your employment prospects, find more information on our dedicated webpage here, get in touch by emailing workandskills@berneslaihomes.co.uk or phone 01226 787878 during office hours and ask for the Ambition team.
