Finalists in the Northern Housing Awards
The Northern Housing Awards launched in 2018, with a mission to shine a spotlight on great achievements in improving homes and communities in the north.
We’ve been shortlisted in the Best Resident Support / Wellbeing Initiative category for how our Ambition programme supports residents in Barnsley who are not in education, employment or training to find new opportunities and boost their skills.
Participants work with an Ambition Coach who provides tailored one-to-one support according to the individual’s needs, including:
- Support to build their confidence.
- A person-centred approach to finding training and work opportunities considering the participant’s wider health and personal circumstances.
- Support to access welfare benefits and healthcare services.
The holistic approach remove barriers, improves wellbeing, builds independence, and creates sustainable pathways into education, training, and employment.
Technology Partner of the Year
Case Management Solutions Group (CMSG) has been shortlisted in the Technology Partner of the Year category for using partnership working to transform ASB management across the borough.
Since 2025, we’ve worked with CMSG and Barnsley Council to extend the use of their ASB App and ASB Respect Line across the borough, enabling us and the council to work from the same system. Tenants can report anti-social behaviour (ASB) using the app or a dedicated phoneline for reporting issues outside of normal office hours.
CMSG’s ‘transfer case’ tool within the app helps us to easily share information with Barnsley Council, including the full history of an ASB case. This helps us to share information on ASB patterns in our neighbourhoods and raise the need for enforcement with Barnsley Council whilst keeping an eye on how cases are handled.
Dave Fullen, Executive Director of Customer and Estate Services, said: “It’s great to see our Ambition team and one of our partners being recognised for their hard work. The Ambition team’s person-centred approach helps to address both practical and personal barriers to employment and training, giving residents the support they need to boost their skills.
“CMSG’s work with us and Barnsley Council has delivered tangible improvements in how we respond to anti-social behaviour. This collaborative approach in how we use their ASB App and ASB Respect Line strengthens our approach to investigating anti-social behaviour and providing a better service to tenants.”
