Berneslai Homes celebrates social value impact across Barnsley
Berneslai Homes is pleased to publish its Social Value Impact Report for 2025-26 as part of our commitment to creating great homes and communities with the people of Barnsley.
The report demonstrates how Berneslai Homes and its partners are making a real difference to the lives of residents by investing in people, skills, and communities across Barnsley, delivering social value through education, employment, support, and other community initiatives.
Berneslai Homes has a proven track record of supporting early careers and this year was no exception with more than 30 placements provided for T-Levels and school-age students and 25 apprenticeship placements offered in both office-based roles and trades. Working closely with local colleges and schools, Berneslai Homes hosts work experience and student placements, supports activities including careers fairs and mock interviews, and provides hands on experience in a range of roles within the housing sector.
In the wider community, the Can Do Crew employer supported volunteering scheme offers colleagues time to volunteer locally, support charities and community organisations, share professional expertise, and participate in events. Barnsley Hospice was nominated and voted for as Berneslai Homes’ charity partner for 2025-27 and has already received more than £8,000 in fundraising activities as well as volunteer hours and practical support.
Additionally, events across the borough included clean-up days, gardening, and bespoke training for local residents helping them to spot the early signs of damp and mould.
Steve Feast, Chief Executive, said: “We’re committed to making a positive difference to the lives of local people both in the way we do business and through the culture within the organisation. We work closely with our partners and suppliers to give time, resources, and skills to unlock potential and create opportunities. Our people are encouraged to get involved in a wide range of social value initiatives from mentoring and training to volunteering and fundraising, and this report highlights the many benefits delivered locally during the last year.”
